"The
Yacht - The Crew - The Adventure"
Thirty-year
veteran Captain Gerry Matheson invites you to join him and his crew with First-Mate
Charlaine Lacroix aboard the 63-foot Sailing Ketch, the "Raincoast,"
for a sailing adventure you will treasure forever.
The "Raincoast" was
built by Captain Bruce Brophy, the sole owner of the sailing ketch prior
to Captain Matheson, from 1978-to1982 in Richmond, B.C., Canada. The 17-foot
beam of the "Raincoast" also boasts a keel of 14 feet.
This ketch has ample sailing
capacity with mainsail, jib, yankee and mizzen sails which are built of the
finest Dacron making this an exceptional sailing vessel. The winches and
controls are housed in a sheltered wheelhouse that allows guests and crew
comfort from any winds or rain. The 17-foot wide teak decks are only the outer
portion of the fine woodwork this outstanding two
stateroom, two heads, captain quarters and huge galley has to offer. A team of
expert cabinet makers took almost five years to construct the teak, maple, cedar
and gumwood interior - an awesome feast to behold for any wood lover.
The "Raincoast"
is powered by an Isuzu 6-cylinder diesel engine, 120 hp capable of powering the
vessel while not under sail at a comfortable rate.
Captain Gerry Matheson,
who braved the waters of the Pacific Ocean for over 30 years as a commercial
fisherman, retired from fishing when he laid eyes upon the "Raincoast."
With his years of ocean experience, guests obtain the opportunity to be shown
exclusive ocean harbors and waterways the novice would never venture to
undertake.
The
First Mate Charlaine Lacroix, a well known photographer and journalist
will capture those special moments using up to date digital hardware. She will
also delight you with tantalizing seafood dishes when available and other great
entrees.
Sailing with Captain Gerry
Matheson and Charlaine Lacroix on the
outstanding 63-foot "Raincoast" along British Columbia's
West Coast waters will not only satisfy the experienced sailor's appetite, but
will be certain excitement for the novice sailor.
